The hopeless romanticA Poem by Cheryl J. Turner
Loving stroke Cautious caress
The piano performs
As we confess
Our love of love
And dread of distress
The violin is weeping
But there is faith in his heart
Laid away for safekeeping
Judgment apart
I am the lyricist
I hold the key
Together forever
Desolate romantics are we
A melody I have written
I play it in my heart
I’ll keep it a secret
In-case we should part
And thus creates the completion
Of our lovers tale
The violin is weeping
And so in my heart do I
For even though I love you so
Everything must die
