Dance

Dance

A Poem by Cheryl J. Turner

Hold me in your arms once more

They'll play our chosen song

How I wish that I were good enough

But I suspect, to wish is wrong

Your careless whisper

Plays upon my mind

A slight brush of fingers

And obsessions will wind

How we danced

And laughed and sung

How I regret,

That slip of the tongue

Yesterday you held me

Just like lovers do

But I suspect it meant much more

To me and not to you
