Running dry

Running dry

A Poem by Cheryl J. Turner

Trace a line upon my face

Of wet and windy sorrow

Teach me of the things to come

Of tragedy, hard to swallow

Place a wrinkle upon my brow

Watch depression take it's bow

Solace in the smiles of babes,

Lack of deep, dark, plague

And yet loneliness prevails, I fear

Much time that is not mine

Lack of sweet sunshine

And what to do of loves long absence

Well wallow, dear one, for what do you ask us

The precious light of heart is gone

Let summer settle in a field of one

Yet I bathe in hope so deep

and the dream of loves, mine to keep

From my lips you'll hear no cry

Yet within these walls,

The tears run dry
