Adrift

Adrift

A Poem by Cheryl J. Turner

Adrift, my heart calls to you

Woman overboard

I shall drown,

In seas of my own emotion

In the glory and pain of love

What good has this feeling

A trail of emptiness to guide me home

A burning dagger has pierced my very soul

Gaping hole of destruction

Left a bitter taste

And so on to the next

My epic battle

My tainted destiny

To feel your fingers touch

To know the warmth of you

A thousand deaths to die for the pleasure

To speak your name in times of trouble,

In ecstacy

Oh, what privledge would be mine

This longing must soon end

Pain must subside

The sun setting upon hope

My love for you

My pain, the price
