My friend

My friend

A Poem by Cheryl J. Turner

The familiar crash of thunder

Darkness seeping in

Fading hopes and broken limbs

No pulse to prove a life

Down and down to fall

All alone and so lonely

Feel the dagger sliding into flesh

Pools of blood upon the floor

and then to invisibility

Not a soul to see

Tears that run like rivers

Staining the soul

Tainting happiness

My best friend

My Dark intruder

Home once again
