Patience

Patience

A Poem by Cheryl J. Turner

I wait in patience and still you do not come

Sweet words cannot quiet the beating of my heart

I stretch limbs to touch you

The recoil shatters my essence

We will stride along desert sands

the gentle touch of fingers,

a soft reminder that we are one

We are whole, together

Is this the taste of rejection

Should friendship be our goal

A gift, surely

and yet, not fulfilment

Through and through I shall see you

Every string of your heart I shall play

I wait in patience and still you do not come

and I wonder

Are you lost?

Such longing and longing and beautifully put .. so hope by the end of the end of the end of your poem, your patience was repaid.

Ah! I know this feeling all too well. You put, what I'm sure is a common feeling, into a form that is not too common. Often with a subject like this, poems can become a little redundent, cliche or childish. Well done!
