Habit

Habit

A Poem by Cheryl J. Turner

This habit is hard to break

The darkness is creeping in

Your words have stung

Hit at my bones

I'm looking for approval

But I see disappointment in your eyes

What will happen

Who will I be

What type of person will ever love me

A life is a work of fiction

and it's all rolled into one

Do you even see the pain

See what they have done

I think I need a comfort

But I'll look to me for that

I'm starting to realise

That life is mine to own

and to have hopes of moving forward

perhaps I need to start alone
