Hit me

Hit me

A Poem by Cheryl J. Turner

Hit me with your ton of bricks

I'll bleed upon your floor

I'm never going back there now

I've bolted all those doors

Punch me with your closed ideas

My mind is open now

I understand the err of ways

I've released and faced my fears

Kick me accross time and space

I will never ever die

I've been in paradise, I have seen hell

My dark friend does not lie

Logic is the sum of evil

and yet you feed me words

I'm looking for compasion now

not something so absurd

Hold me close my dearest friend

Though you know not who I am

I'll cherish you from far away

Just know I have a plan

I like the "hold me close....from far away" combination. Not only a good combination of lines, but gives a sense of distance from the opening ton of bricks.
