There once was a woman

There once was a woman

A Poem by Cheryl J. Turner

There once was a woman who wept all the time

Her heart full of sadness

No matter the joy that came her way

She could not find a better mood

She tried to find true love

and when it was found, she wept once again

Not enough, she sighed to her hearts ears

She tried to start a family

thinking that the laughter of her children might brighten her world

this made her happy - but only for a little while

Her heart filled with an increasing amount of rage

Can nothing be good enough?

Must it all be filled with misery?

The more she struggled to find her fulfillment

the more it eluded her and the deeper she fell into her black abyss

There once was a woman who wept all the time

Then one day she stopped

She looked to the sky and studied the stars and asked them why

The stars sat and sparkled in their heavenly way

She sat and she watched

A voice came from inside her

and what did it say?

Stop all your questions

forgets all your whys

stop looking for problems

stop spreading the lies

Your life is here for you

look at all you've got

Your life is a gift

Give thanks for your lot

There once was a woman who wept all the time

You see she is just grateful

for a love that is mine

This piece is beautiful, the ending brought the concept full circle. One must be grateful for all things given. You never know when it all might be taken away, and then you are truly left with nothing....now that would be something to cry about. Thanks for penning this write, found in a pleasure to read. PW

She looked to the sky and studied the stars and asked them why
The stars sat and sparkled in their heavenly way - I really love these two lines.

Nicely wrapped happy ending, a very important message ins this write. One should always be grateful for what one has and always seek to build on that for the better. Nicely penned.
