He does not read

He does not read

A Poem by Cheryl J. Turner

He does not read

He hears not a word

Steps on and on and on

Pacing feet with a charmless rhythm

Ignorance in blissful form

For this, I suffer, For this, I weep

Incident plays on a loop

Life in re-play, an endless game

Pain enters with each roll of the dice

He does not read

Because he does not care?

Because he does not love?

Because he is not there?

This poem has a very specific meter.. almost lyrical.. and, is very lovely. Like the reader below I'm not sure of what your words mean but, maybe that's the hub of it.. a puzzle that makes one want to read at least twice

' He does not read / Because he does not care? / Because he does not love? / Because he is not there? ' - these are very sad lines, but I feel the questions mean something quite special, sad or otherwise.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and fine poem.

I hope this poem doen't mean that you the author have lost a child. If so a beautiful tribute and if not a beautiful poem.

Nicely penned.
Incident plays on a loop-Life in re-play, an endless game-Pain enters with each roll of the dice" I found this to be very powerfull to express the traumas of ill fortune and life.
