I think I would prefer your words and your thoughts telling your story this time... you have a fresh way of expressing your "voice" and it deserves to be heard.
Someone I know once told me a story how at a beach party, fearing her boyfriend was interested in someone else, began to walk into the ocean. Her intention was never to return, but she also wanted him to notice. To save her. Claim her. He never did. It was a story I thought at the time the most beautiful, and sad I ever heard. It will always stick with me.
Your exquisite piece, reminded me of it.

She walked into the ocean until the water came up just below her eyes, took off the rest of her clothing and turned around. Nobody noticed she left. Then she swam out until the bonfire was but a speck. I suspect something inside of her clicked, maybe she decided drowning over him was not something she wanted to gift, and she began to swim again struggling to make her way back to the shore. Up the beach from the party now she borrowed a tee shirt and shorts from a couple and made her way home. I don't think she ever saw him again.
