Basic Necessities

Basic Necessities

A Poem by Frontier

My gaze averting

drowning under claws and matted fur

I now see the shell you carry all too clearly

so clear that it seems bulky, awkward

I literally see it coming undone

Totally blind to what is seen

Over-powering machinery

An excitatory and/or inhibitory travesty

A sacred automatic carousel of push-my-buttons

Acute everlasting circuitry

I cannot quit you, but you can quit me

This unwanted armor, born an unwilling warrior

How you pound relentlessly on these  oppressive walls.

Sickeningly stuck to the vital cycles

I love the lines: "An excitatory and/or inhibitory travesty of the sacred automatic carousel of push-my-buttons". The masks we wear ! Visually, when I began reading this, I saw an anvil? Not sure if that's the intention, but in the final two lines of "pound relentlessly" it seemed to fit perfectly. Great poem. Penny

Very unique and stimulating here, I enjoyed it in its whole, it was so quirky! I like your choices in how you placed awkward, and the bit of and/or, it really made the flow stand out as the oddity it was.
