Mrs. Pale Eyes

Mrs. Pale Eyes

A Story by Frontier

An after-life gaze

Cathedral eyes

She gave off the feeling of watching a balloon float up into the sky.

Suspended out of space and time, unknown substrate,

devoid of everything and full of everything,

like gazing out at the ocean.

Naked eyes that didn't possess an ego, it seemed like no

transitory biological reaction paid a visit.

One curious aspect about her eyes

was that despite their ghostly paleness,

 they seemed cavernously deep,

never to attend the never-ending séance.

Her eyes were attractive but one couldn't

easily put a finger on why.

She wasn't wearing make-up,

but her eyes had such quiet power

that the rest of her face and body

seemed as an accessory,

in a sense her eyes "wore" her.

beautifully done, I like how it rolls out as if you are writing it right now, the thoughts you are having, the observations, the awe that has inspired you and the poetic phrasing...absolutely great.

That last line was perfect. I love the tribute to those eyes.
They are quite magical. You captured that magic beautifully.

Thank you Zeitgeist Im glad you liked it.
"...Her eyes wore her." What a clever and creative turn of phrases, Frontier. In fact, I rather enjoyed the entire eerie and ethereal feel of this piece as a whole.

Nicely done.

The gift (or curse) of art/poetry seems to me to be an ability in vision unlike most others. You walk through life lingering in and out of the minutia where others walk around leaving you wondering how this at all possible or if you have lost your mind. Then a strange haunting begins and passion stirs within until you are somehow able to share these visions. In this you have made it seem as if the entire world would have stopped and seen these eyes and declared their toxic light. Knowing that this is not the case you have done this unseen depth an extreme kindness. You have taken these eyes out of the body and written them into the infinite. It is a beautiful thing. Love the way this ends. Thanks~

Brilliant, loved it - the line: "...the never-ending seance of restless souls oozing with formaldehyde..." says it all for me. PS. I've no idea how this rating thing works
