You evacuate the song

from the hibernating heart 

Life's mortician

laid himself to rest 

He did not pass

Hmmm, abstract... Let's see, what I get from this poem could either be about the concept that death reaches all (mortician "laying to rest" could be symbolism of a character that plays death dying himself, perhaps being tricked by a magician to evade death. Then the last line would make it deaths thoughts where that he thinks the magician is stupid because he's still going to die eventually. It's could ALSO be about a coma.... As the first two lines could signify life leaving someone.
.In this case the mortician is the doctor or family member pulling the plug and "laying him to rest". Then not passing the test is the test for brain activity. I like the many ways I can interpret this poem XD but these are the first two I thought of, nice poem^^) Thanks for entering it into my competition.

Yes, my writing tends to come out abstract more often than not. Yes the "life's mortician" was sort of like death dying himself, it's like everything that makes us feel less alive is life's mortician, and it was putting itself to death. The plain magician is anyone who overcomes the "death" evident in life, all the hardships and keeps on living with meaning. These people are sort of like magicians but they are plain because they can be any "regular" person you see out and about.

I very much like the out of sync rhymes, minimal like the poem, and enough to tie it all together. It's a very abstract work that reminds me of late '60s Bob Dylan, it leaves me hanging as to what's actually going on. I like that. Nicely done.

Thank you! Yes, most of my writing tends to be abstract. I actually am not too acquainted with Bob Dylan's writings, I'll check up on that.
