Expectations

 they gloss me in a coat of confusion

i'm confused

how can you be "this" when you have never been "that"

it's like playing a game of 

chasing the invisible cat 

plus a game of chess or two with out the pieces 

never really know where to walk the line 

when all that lies inside me 

is a distraught and fearful, hungry wide eyed child

the adult coat that I wear is thin and see through 

I can never hold it down for long 

the raging beast seeping through 

the lonely girl, we see she's been abused 

this love's got me so confused

never know which way to walk 

heart still pumping 

legs still walking 

ego still controlling

thoughts and memories playing their stories 

just want to know 

when it's time to let my guard down 

let love stroke my hair 

hold me close 

keep me safe 

let me be me 

let you be you 

but I am shattered glass

fragments making a patterned sky 

in the purple bee hives of the night 

the honey still lingers 

as does the war

Intense. Very intense. I loved the invisible cat line, too. The rhyme scheme was great.
