Blindsided

Blindsided

A Poem by Alex

Ouch! A sucker-punch to the muscle in my chest.
And just like that, another one bites the dust.
He found his way into another’s arms,
Just like the one before him,
And the one before that.
So many boys left scattered behind me
Like falling autumn leaves.
Each one given a taste,
A succlent sip of nectar,
And then away they went,
Leaves tumbling in the wind.
“Who wants the whole cow,
When you can get the milk for free?”
My Father used to say.
Now the words echo,
Richochet off the walls of my mind.
And that treasure everyone has been given
Is the one I just cannot seem to find.
“Learning how to be alone without being lonely;
Learning how to be lonely without losing my mind.”
