In White

In White

A Poem by Alex

Sometimes I wonder why it is that my pen can only find the page on rainy afternoons,
Where everything is grey and hazy and time slows down,
If only for a moment.
Wake up, I’m here
I’m waiting for you
She whispers into the air, or your ear,
Whichever you would rather
The clouds fold in on one another again and again
And the silver linings are lost in the heaviness of hurricane winds
We lay in grey sheets
His fingers tracing every valley, every hill, every landscape
Bodily cartography
Love, or something else, sets my blood alight
And I felt your heart in my heart
On that cold December midnight
She wonders if she’ll ever be loved in any way
As he sits in his room on his bed
Hoping one day he’ll feel her heart in his
So summer gives way to fall
We fall into to winter
And I can’t but help but feeling
This fall will be the hardest to spring to life once more
I love you, I love you
But three strikes and you’re out
When in is the only place I’ve ever been
(with you)
In the red dress
In the sand
In a dream with your hand
In my hand
On my hand
With a ring
In a white dress
The white dress
I hope to wear for you, for now and all time.
