Seasons of LoveA Poem by Alex
I will not stop loving you
Though the buds bloom and blossom on the tree Which we Planted with each other one quiet Spring afternoon. Our hands toiled, intermingled in the dirt of something Neither of us knew The land was new The air was me and you. I will not stop loving you Though the Summer heat drew beads of sweat from my brow. Often the saline dripped into my eyes, Stinging and blinding. But every time afterward, you carried me to the Creek behind the hidden path And we jumped in fast, Heart first; Thirst quenched. I was refreshed. Clothed only in affection, we laid together in the sand as One. Blistering diamonds in the sun. I will not stop loving you Though the Winter chills me to the bone. We hibernated inside the sycamore hut, Huddled beneath woolskin blankets. Sharing everything, Heat and heart and ache. I nearly froze the night you left. How was I supposed to know you only wanted your slippers and gloves? When I woke up again, You were right there, And all was alright. I will not stop loving you Though this Fall Is the toughest I’ve ever had to endure. Because I fall, am falling Hard, harder, hit without a sound. All around Leaves fall in love with the ground Birds fall in love with trees Frisbees fall in love with the little boy down the street And you will fall in love with me. I am the only solid ground you walk On while walking across the surface of the moon. Seasons change, and I will not stop loving you. © 2010 Alex |
