The Marriage of Fire and Ice

The Marriage of Fire and Ice

A Poem by Alex

Such are the things of Fire
Passion, Love, Desire
That make the soul burn Brighter
That make the flames dance Higher

Such are the things of Ice
Loneliness and Sacrifice
That make the soul refuse the vice
That make the cold last through the night

In between existence they shall meet
Where the land will greet the Sea
Where the Sky touches the Earth
Where the Wall will meet the Hearth

The Fire will melt the Cold
The Ice will cool the Flames
A communion as new as old
Where neither one refrains

Church bells ring
Heaven and Hell in union with one another
Angels and Demons a chorus of Rejoice
The Moon and The Sun
Blow kisses across the star-strewn sky

Of this is all things
To give and be given
To take and be taken
To want and be wanted
To need and be needed

To Love and be Loved
To Be

An excellent poem. First-rate in every way, I'd say. I love the metaphors used throughout. In addition, it described much of my love-life's history -- fire and ice, indeed.
