Lessons In Fire

Lessons In Fire

A Poem by Alex

Look at us
What have we become?
Look at my hands
What have I done?

I want to say I'm sorry
But the truth is, I'm not
Ask me to do it again
And I will on the spot

Look at those city lights burn
With their empty hearts they yearn
For a bright brand new start
They've ripped themselves apart
I wonder if they'll ever learn

You drove me to it, you know
With every lie you did tell
Broke me to pieces
Now we'll both go to hell

You sealed our fate
When you said 'I Love You'

Words written in blood

Now do they ring true?

Look at those city lights burn
With their empty hearts they yearn
For a bright brand new start
They've ripped themselves apart
I wonder if they'll ever learn

We've had our laughs
We've cried our tears
All of those memories
Collected through the years

Now we go down
First a click then a pow
If you could talk
I'm sure you'd ask why and how

Look at my fragile heart burn
With my empty soul I yearn
For the love of your heart

But you ripped me apart
I guess you'll never learn
