Fine

Fine

A Poem by Alex

Don’t worry about me
I’ll make it through
I always do, you know.
It’s still beating
(My Heart)
Shallow, almost non-existent
But there.
Alive and shattered,
And a single hole
Where my soul would be.
Should be.
Could be? No.
But that’s fine.
Everything always is
In time.
One day I’ll be…
I’ll be…(Yours?)
Nevermind. Never anyone’s.
I’ve shut the windows
Closed the doors
To the world.
You were the sun and moon.
Light burns me now
And only darkness soothes
The bruised muscles in my mind.
I always searched;
Never did I find.
I thought in time it would be mine
But I was just blind.
So now, I willingly open my eyes
Keep up this façade, this disguise.
And that,
My Darling, My Dear
(Who is not mine at all)
Is just fine.
