To Bend
A Chapter by
Cherrie Palmer
My mother has stage 4 brain tumor and she and I are in Saint Francis Hopsital and have been since the 27 of Feb.
When her thoughts were stolen by her own words,
she did not grow angry and curse her maker.
When listeners could not hear she apologized and waited,
for us to find her way.
And when the only truth could be made clear with tears, she cried.
Making us love with a steady hand and a whisper.
As the end of the road was in sight she embraced the day,
to teach us to bend

My gosh, this is beautiful! The first line rivets, and the rest settles the reader into a deep contemplation of our ability to (or not to) learn from others on our journey. A sad, yet gorgeous tribute, not only to your beloved Mother, bet to you for acceptance and growth. Thank you for sharing a very personal piece of work.
Excellent.

This is really a moving piece... to know death is inevitable has to be the most helpless feeling.

"As the end of the road was in sight she embraced the day,
to teach us to bend"
That is good advice for all of us, as we all approach too fast in that direction.

To bend, and not to yield...............thanks for sharing these profoundly beautiful thoughts at such a difficult time for you both. The love you express is timeless, selfless, and will sustain you in this hour of need. Great piece.
