The Heavens Blush

The Heavens Blush

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

just another sun rise

"

A sleepy lavender sky blushes with the first sign of morning. The warm shade of red slowly spreads across the horizon as a second layer of burgundy deepens the tone, it filters back down to meet the rising sun.

This adds a gentle white to the pallet, flowing to a cool yellow. A single stroke of pink appears, lacing the vista with a smile. I in turn offer the same.

With the cue of daybreak a flock of starlings take to flight a slow "S" covers the sky that suddenly bursts into 3-D star. The opposing gusts of wind against the Starlings invites them into a whirlwind; like the carousel at the fair they ride the waves.

While in my head I can hear the old-time music of a  calliope and organ serenading a happy tune till their quarter ride is over. Like clockwork in a well-rehearsed performance the spiral tunnel of birds melt into a fowl blanket of down hovering over the prairie grass.

The milling of the birds is mesmerizing and captures my attention. Without thought or provocation a bursting star  is formed and melts into a flying "W". Their troubles are nil and the sight of them in flight ease my own.

I gaze at the mild winter morning and notice the dressed down trees  ready for their winter soulless; when a smooth nutty aroma floats a cross my senses and I finish off my morning coffee, ready to greet the day.

We have these amazing dancing starlings here too! I suspect the redcoats took them over there. They do pick great weather to perform their crazy tricks in and this work sums it all up to perfection! Starlings are the worlds great entertainers. I guessed that Cherrie would notice it too. Another CP classic. A poem that makes the world feel like a great place to be.

Great way to wake up I think...I love mornings like that, just enjoying the gifts that life has to offer and getting ready for the day. Great description. Great work.

God's pallet humbles any painter. It's in these moments, if one chooses to see, that life, spirit and soul commune, giving evidence of the infinite.

These are great moments noticed, appreciated and captured to share by a talented writer. Nice work C.P.
