Daddy & IA Poem by Cherrie Palmer
Daddy sit with me on the side of my bed and told me tales of days long past. He told me how I was grand and would someday be all I ever dreamed. He rubbed my back and wiped down my head, whispered a prayer for me at the foot of my bed. Made me snug as a bug and sang to me till dreams did come. Now I am grown and have sat on the bed many a time for all of mine. But I did not know that after mine was grown and I thought I'd be done with tales and songs. That Daddy and I would once again have a special time right before bed. As I sit with him on the side of the bed and tell him tales of days long past. How he has helped each dream of mine. I rub his back and wipe down his head. Whisper a prayer at the foot of his bed. Made him snug as a bug and sang to him till dreams did come.
