Peyton's Christmas DreamA Story by Cherrie Palmera child's christmas dreamThere is one night on the calendar you can trust all the children of the house will be fast asleep. Long before 8:30 no one is awake but mom and dad. Mother is baking pies and cookies. Dad is carefully reading a blue print. Trusting his skills as a weekend contractor will be enough to see him through. Nana is here for a holiday visit and peeks in on the children they are sound asleep. Nana stops for just a moment to gaze upon the sweetest smile any child ever adorned. She wonders what sweet notions could cause such a beautiful expression. Peyton's dream of a Christmas pony slowly clouded till she saw an outline of a figure sitting sidesaddle. It was a young woman, really she was just a girl. As Peyton took in the cold night dessert landscape, she noticed a beautiful star with a kite like tail, siting in the east sky. Now just a bit to the north was a great wall cloud. There was a rift in the sky and dangling over the cloud a mighty warrior of God's angelic host. Gabrielle, himself looked on. Tears mixed with a measure of joy, pain and pride streamed down his face, as he watched the small caravan of two; soon to be three head to Bethlehem. As the dream continued, Peyton skipped up to the place where Gabrielle sits and with no fear and the innocents of youth asked, "What are you watching?" Gabrielle's voice was mighty and powerful like the sound of a mighty wind and when he spoke the Angels of the Four Winds stood at attention "I am watching the word of God become flesh. In the beginning of creation God's spoken word was the center of all life. Still to this day in the center of each atom is found a sound wave, holding God's command to live. We are about to see that very life take human form, and give light to all of mankind." With that said when Peyton and Gabriel gazed down upon the earth below. The young couple had managed to find a small lean-to like coral for shelter from the night. By this time several Legions of angels stood in attendance. On the South Bank of the eternal heavens stood the mighty Angel Michael and the great sea of witness. A soft rumbling hum sprang forth from the earth as the earth itself made music for our Lord. A host of angels chimed in singing to the newborn King. The lullaby was soft and sweet proclaiming victory over the gates of hell, and his wonders life to come. The choirs trailed off till the only voice left was that of Jesus’s mother, Mary, singing 'Sleep My Child'. The dream moved with truth and its rhythm rang in sync with time. Father Abraham carried forth the Lamb's Book of Life. It beamed bright and the glory of God rest upon it, for the word of all life was now flesh. With that completed Gabrielle looked at Peyton he proclaimed to her "Goodnight." and blew a quick breath of air. The Angels of the Four Winds joined in and she floated back to her bed. Her eyes fluttered open and then closed and her smile was warm and tender bathed in the joy of creation. Her grandmother looked on and could only wonder of the peaceful dreams of a child. Nana turned to walk away never seeing Gabrielle's feather nestled in her hair.
