Forever And A Day

Forever And A Day

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

a pledge

"

Sweet wine and roses red .

Memories made of gold,

chisel lines set in stone.

A pledge by us is made,

One of forever and a day.

These words we spoke on our wedding day

and a million times along life’s way.

A final pledge comes too soon

and again from the heart I say to you;

take my heart  and hold it near

and soon we’ll set by the living stream

watching waves of forever

crash into the Crystal Sea.

And when for us the Heavens part .

Roses red and Heavens wine

seal a toast made on high.

A pledge by us is now complete as

forever and a day becomes more

than a promise made.

I get a tribute to love that is tempered with sorrow. Someone seems to have lost a forever love. I absolutely LOVE this line ...

"Memories made of gold, chisel lines set in stone."

... it speaks of the power of memories and their nature as one of the few things in this life that is/are permanent. The only tweaks I suggest are these. The physical formatting is a little tough on these old eyes. And ... in the line ...

"And when for us the Heaven part"

... did you mean "Heavens" ??
