Promenade

Promenade

A Poem by Cherrie

Off went the promenade lights
Stilled was the musical track
Of Christmas Town.

A bright Star beamed
across the village

Over the hot cocoa stand
And tree lot it defused

The streams of light
rested on the ice
With a soft glow.

A crescent light cast by the moon announced the tiny waif.

Skating with merriment
She crossed and cris crossed
The ice.

The silent night crisp with cold
Held its own aural.

As the cutting blade sang
With each footfall.

She wafted across the space
As the night held its breath.

Occasionally slipping into
The fringe of darkness she moved.

She sashayed in and out of sight
Only to reappear with outstretched arms elegant and
Reposed.

And the Moon held his stance
To behold her.

Thank you, Tony
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I love to watch figure skating, and it seems so impossible...I could hardly ever skate at all...Maybe I needed that beam to help.
Good for the moon.
This is a delight to read tonight...so many poems are about depression, the awful state of the world...you gave us a ray of moonshine.

I like watching ice skaters as well. I can skate or maybe I should say I can keep from falling 🙂<.. read more
Stunning imagery. I saw the little skater and heard the blades on the ice. A lovely Christmas poem Cherrie. Very atmospheric. Wishing you and your family a merry Christmas.
