Evening Tide

Evening Tide

A Poem by Cherrie

The evening waves
drank up the sun
and with shadows
deeply cast
a distant loon
began his psalms.
As the eastern shore
spit out the moon
and across the horizon
ascended.
Its pale white glow
was seen below.
Calling to the deep.
When a slumbering beast
rose from sleep
to rise above the swell.
From his wake
lights did chase
the luminaries
of heaven
and from his wake
a song did ride
giving praise
to
God
Most
High.

In my Army days. I was station at Fort Ord, California. I spend nights watching the sun fall in the Pacific. Your poem took me back to those days. Nature is art and so beautiful/wonderful. Your words kind and generous for gift of nature for us. Thank you dear Cherrie for sharing the outstanding poetry. I did enjoy.

A great poem about the majesty of the ocean and its creatures.
And how we can see God reflected in nature.
I enjoyed reading this poem.

You are most welcome.
To hear and see the whales is a once in a lifetime experience unless you live close to a spawning ground I'd venture. I've been on the ocean but never seen any. I have seen a few dolphins at a distance. Lovely write. I enjoyed the read.
