Tethered to the Wind

Tethered to the Wind

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

Tethered to the wind see him fly.

those wings of grace caress the sky,

Seized by his beauty I begin to cry.

Tucked in a thermal he hitches a ride.

Until

he is out of sight.

The flight of an eagle or a hawk is imagined and wonderfully described. I enjoyed this short piece. Very nicely written. F.

Thank you 😊
There is a true beauty in watching nature.
Cherrie,
This is a source of mystery to me. WHY is poetry so ill-used, so shunned, so ignored. It might take five seconds to read this little gem and get as much from its depths as taking days to read a novel? So much here in so few words!

Cherrie,

You have penned a very contemplative piece of poetry here, that I truly found intriguing ...

Then the night falls into the sky. But please don't cry, for tomorrow again he will fly.

I'm glad you thought so. Because I thought it needed it too.
I wonder if those of us who are lost in the sight of a great bird flying up, up, up and away.. until.. gone, are in fact, emotional escapists? Deep inside, wanting that lift into a unknown place, ' .. tethered to the wind ' yet, know full well it can never happen- Yes, emotion hits, desire hits but the memory of it can last.. and last. Beautiful words, Cherrie

That’s how I feel Cherrie when I am watching red kites soar in the skies where I live. Such magnificent creatures, they are now making a great revival in the Chilterns after almost becoming extinct. I stop everything to watch them. A beautiful, visual write.
