Flaming Bright

Flaming Bright

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

The salted sky calmly waited for the first rays of morning.

Small dollops of clouds littered the heavens.

A thin vista of gold quickly bloomed.

As if a child commanded the morning canvas,

bright tangerine hit hot and bold on the eastern horizon.

Causing the underbelly of the heavens to flame bright.

It was easy to spy the river that snaked along the next ridge,

for its outline was etched in fine morning mist; that softly

nestled among the tree line.

Morning woke eager and full of life.

her invitation to join the celebration

 drew me outside.

This is a beautiful poem of sun awaking and coming alive with all its colors and beauty. This poem captures its charm. I especially love these lines.. ‘Morning woke eager and full of life. Her invitation to join the celebration drew me outside. Utterly gorgeous writing.

:) thank you Sue
I just love sunrises and sunsets... and the part in between. But watching the former makes the latter sweeter. Great descriptions here. I enjoyed.

And now I have a new poem, The Bristlecone. I find inspiration everywhere. ;)
Wow! I have never seen a morning quite like that. Maybe a sunset, kinda, but what a way to wake up that would be.

I've been knocking it around for the last couple of days. Thrilled you liked it 😊
Such a beautiful, colorful and descriptive poem about the beauty that can only be found in a sunrise. There is something very magical about the light appearing on the horizon's ridge and how it ignites the sky. Your poem is a beautiful portrait of this but the final stanza is really my favorite, you give life and a personality to the morning and I love the invitation. Amazing poetry Cherrie
