Waxing or Waning

Waxing or Waning

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

It seems the entirety of life.

Is waxing or waning.

Daylight to dusk.

First breath to last.

Chaos to serenity.

Very profound Cherrie - the rising and ebbing tides of our lives. Sometimes we are on the front foot, sometimes on the back foot. Excellent ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️

I'm glad I do not remember being born, it seems like a pretty chaotic experience. The middle has been strange so far, I hope the end is peaceful. The end kind of begins whenever we start I guess... the human lifespan doesn't exceed a certain number of years, we are born with "it" (planned obsolescence). But our capacity for choice is potentially endless through language and memory. But like the sun... the time it "burns" is always a pretty accurate reflection of the material it started with. Human experience is not much different. Our collective desire is to "burn" it seems.

Everything has a beginning, everything slips and slides to a finish. Guess we celebrate the one and rue the other , each to our own emotions. Wax and wain - two words that begin with a letter that when upturned equal M for Mankind, mystery and much maligned. You make this simple mind think and think, Cherrie.

thank you Jodash
We go from the cradle to the grave without much fanfare. A new generation takes our place. But if we find peace in the end it may a sign of a life well lived and a journey well traveled. I enjoyed. F.

Our breath lasts as long as the flame.
Wax rises as we all burn the same
candles molded to our lives.
Every night cleansing the plate to wane,
only to wax again, and hope to gain
peace ~ that for which life strives.

Is that what you mean?

Life keeps moving forward while someone takes their first breath and another takes their last.

... And never the twain shall meet!
Very astute writing, considering that so much is fit into so few words and the fact that it is true, we go from light to dark, chaos to calm and all other extreme opposites, without even looking around for a bench or chair to ponder the complexities of life.
It is the best thing about Ageing, your first thought is always where the chairs are at! 😊

Yes, that is the only time we rush too! 😊
That is pretty much it in a poetic nutshell. Nice brevity for something that truly is quite brief in the grand scheme of things. Nicely expressed Cherrie.
