The Silent Song of Life

The Silent Song of Life

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

Wafting shadows
rise and spread.
Forming our nightly cover.
This velvety cloak,
swaddles the land.
Festooned with stars asunder.
Stitched with Heaven’s silver.
The twinkling lights lull. Giving comfort to all at rest.
As Luna’s silent song,
settles like freshly fallen snow. Caressing both soil and soul.
The anticipation of life, awakens.
As Day reaches for Night.
Throwing back her covers;
to continue
the silent song of life.

I think you have captured the magick of Winter perfectly with this, after all...all of the seasons carry with them some magick and Winter is no different.
It is the sleeping of the Earth. You did a fine job of combining the magick of Winter with the magick of the Night, with it's blanket of stars to light our way in the darkness,
well done.

I think it paid off. Sometimes these things seem to have a mind of their own.
I feel as if I was swimming in peacefulness... soothing, has the touch of healing all over the page, brilliantly and enchantingly written dear Cherrie.

Thank you, Light :)
This is a very soothing, peace inducing offering, something that should be read at the close of a stressful day. The image of day reaching for night gives a note of continuity, of all being part of a single process.

Thank you John:) and yes I like connecting the process.
You describe the on- fall of night and daybreak so eloquently...."the velvety cloak swathes the land" what a beautiful line.... you seem to romanticize nature and really bring it to life with vivid images and excellent metaphors...."as Luna's silent song settles from on high" ...I know you love writing about nature and this piece is perfect!

Your lines here have a calming effect Cherrie and the imagery is spectacular. Sadly I don’t see many starlit nights like this. Some very creative lines

The velvety cloak
swaddles the land.
Festooned with stars asunder.

Positively delightful. Good to read one from you again.

Silence and stars hold important elements of life. The earth needs it, and so do we at times. I've heard lately the skies are getting brighter at night and stars are disappearing.

Electronic pollution maybe? Don't know. But I don't see as many stars anymore. Andthat's a shame.
