i apologize for the span of time since this piece written and when i took opportunity to read.
the title grabbed me as this is the same as a weekly newsprint contributor i was way back in the mid to late 80s.
but this is not about me ... i am drawn to the one particular sentence 'guided by moonbeams I go'
it reminds me of the times i spent on the waters of the sound checking and resetting my flounder nets in the fall of the years spent on the of pamlico sound of the outer banks, north carolina.
it captures the essence of time spent upon the water mattering not lake or sound
water is indeed water of movement ebb and flow ... a very honest write
thank you

Ah! Dear Cherrie ✨ when You write of nature, You bring it to LIFE! this is vibrant, full of life... I don't know how in few lines You can create such ethereal beauty and a whole world as I've said, but You do, and magically so....
dear Cherrie... the best part of our yard is th green moss that is under the front Windows of our older house. No weeds gather and the Color is emerald green. It is magical. We have a sunken area close to the Moss where a Pond appears when it Rains a lot... but disappears when the Sun comes out. We have no lower level or basement so the Earth is free to breathe. I can see the Beauty in your Poem. tenderly, Pat

there is a sadness here...so many lakes are going down because of global warming...
soon everything might become just a desert...I hope we have plenty of water to drink.
this is so good.

Love that first line in this tanka Cherrie. Yes, walking on moss, so soft. I saw the lake in the light of the moon and then when the moon disappeared behind cloud, the lake was gone. Nice imagery.

That should be its own poem once the moon is gone and textures of black fill the night.
Couldn't help but think about lakes that have been in the news lately. Drying up. Some reveal horrors and others reveal beauty.
You didn't call it a Tanka?
