The Street Dance

The Street Dance

A Story by Cherrie Palmer
"

10 word contest

"
MUSIC played on the STREET corner. As a small boy in a TALL CHAIR strummed his guitar, his sister stood on a BOX and sang. Mary danced with a stranger. Making Tom JEALOUS. She’s a little MASTERMIND dreaming of an engagement. LAUGHTER from a GAME of kickball filled the night air. As fireflies flickered in the DARK.

Sounds like a scene from the neighborhood....someone's neighborhood. Sounds and activity that go on across the world. Wake up people and look around you, this scene is probably playing out now in your hood, you just need to pay attention. Fun read. Thank you

Thank you 😊 and yes community interaction is an important thing.
I enjoyed reading this little fun piece! It sounds like fun , a street dance at night, fireflies providing the necessary light for all to enjoy! People dancing, a small boy showing his musical talent! Just wonderful. Nicely done!

People use to have street parties back before tv and internet dominated every moment.

such memories flood this tired brain in pleasant thought of kid days gone by
we would sit on the front porch and wait in anticipation for the coming silent symphony of light that had no rival
i always appreciate the nudge from other's writings that cause thought and emotional remembrance of the good times of my childhood ... a here, remember and embrace this!
thanks

Your ten worder is fun Cherrie. Plenty of activity and music filling the night air here. Wanted to go along and join in. Fireflies always fascinate me. We don't see them in the UK.

This was fun. I'll play. I'll call this:

Fourth of July

Music and laughter from the street;
lady on the balcony with a box office seat.
Like Alice from Wonderland's very tall chair
we quickly mastermind our escape from there.
They'd be jealous of our game in the dark
as we pull the curtains and fireworks start.

Thanks. I was going to look. Maybe we brought attention to it.
Bill wrote one and it's been a long while since I entered a 10 word contest. It was a lot of fun linking the words together. If you have a minute hop on in.
