The Moon and Her Children

The Moon and Her Children

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

Full in bounty the Moon and her children take to the night,

Richly expressing the joy of a new day, they sing.

Twinkling lights are so far away, slowly lose sound.

Their chimes can now only be heard in our thoughts,

As we watch the dance in admiration.

We stretch back on blankets to star gaze.

The ling-long- ding-dong of lights play.

The eyes refract their beauty.

twinkling all the next day.

the shy Moon now veiled.

So deftly hid.

With daybreak,

the last,

ping.

much like relationships....I have had long distance ones where we enjoyed love under the moon and stars but in the end the distance, saw our love blinking, then the light extinguised.
Far away is not such a good recipe to wake up at daybreak, still holding each other in dreams.

It must be done. I heard it ding. I like the way the lines break done into shorter, smaller thoughts to the break of day. Nicely done.
