The Moon and Her Children

The Moon and Her Children

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

Full in bounty the Moon and her children take to the night,

Richly expressing the joy of a new day, they sing.

Twinkling lights are so far away, slowly lose sound.

Their chimes can now only be heard in our thoughts,

As we watch the dance in admiration.

We stretch back on blankets to star gaze.

The ling-long- ding-dong of lights play.

The eyes refract their beauty.

twinkling all the next day.

the shy Moon now veiled.

So deftly hid.

With daybreak,

the last,

ping.

I'm particularly inspired " The ling-long- ding-dong of lights play. The eyes refract their beauty." .. 'tis as if lunar moon and stars behind like watching celestial sententals, perhaps guardian angels, our best interests at heart??

Twinkling stars, children of the moon. I like that idea Cherrie. This poem was full of lovely imagery spanning the duration of the night. Quite beautiful.

I don't know why I always see the Moon as a Male and the Sun as a Female lol yet this is interesting dear Cherrie, to think the night as a day, and it is so for the Moon and her twinkling children, the night is a new day for them. I love the ending it puts me in a playful and sweet mood :>

Beautiful descriptions! I like the flow and how the reader can just visualize that moon and hear the chimes. Nice job!

My pleasure!
Wonderful and beautiful dance of words. I loved the watching the sky near the Pacific. The moon and her children. Always a perfect dance for us to see. Thank you dear Cherrie for sharing the excellent poetry.

Creatively done, Cherrie. The length of lines as they get shorter portray and mirror the way the night slowly lessens to day. I also like the ping words.

I often think of the silent song of nature that mankind cannot hear.
Uh huh! 14 lines starting with 14 syllables falling to one. I think you've been talking to that billigami guy. Is this a true form? Or would we call it a Palmer? Your subject gets the attention with the first line and I didn't realize you had something tricky going till I was almost done. Pretty cool Cherrie!
