A song of love, of giving, of generosity, of kindness and warmth, when no one seems to hear her, feel her... or appreciate the gifts she gives the world. but heavens do, and cupid do too... what a touching wonderfully written poem dear Cherrie. I hear soft music through your words...
I pictured a woman of the Victorian era as I read your words. She is wearing lacy gloves and has no makeup on. She feels sadness and she feels romance....and I enjoyed every word. LydI**

That's a lovely image. Thank you. I look forward to returning the visit.
Everything is a song to me or relates to a song. This poem reminded me of a 1978 song by Firefall, "Strange Way." The lyrics go something like this:
"Didn't I hear you cry this morning, didn't I feel you weep
Teardrops falling down on me, like rivers in my sleep
In my dreams of laughter, you came creeping with your fears
Telling me your sorrow in the tracings of your tears
That's a strange way to tell me you love me, when your sorrow is all I can see
If you just want to cry to somebody, don't cry to me
No, don't cry to me
Didn't I hear your voice this morning, didn't you call my name
I could hear you whisper softly but the words were never plain
And in your dream of darkness, I came shining like the sun
Waiting for the laughter, but the laughter never comes...well, that's a strange way..."
Maybe the author was watching some of those old TV shows where the heroine or protagonist was one of the same sort. ;) I love old movies but I like the kind of women played by Katherine Hepburn and Barbara Stanwyck, those tough, independent, intelligent and strong sort of women that their real personalities translated so easily into. Ah well, to each their own. This seemed more sad and lost than loving to me. Which reminds me of another song by Connie Francis from 1959 which was a million seller, "Stupid Cupid". He's more of a little devil than an angel if you ask me. I enjoyed the read anyway. F.

(laughing) I was over there playing The Seekers, Petula Clark and Dione Warwick. Rod McKuen did a duet with Petula, Baby It's Cold Outside. It's my favorite rendition of the song. My dear pal, Tadeus Sczerba (we called him Ted) once told me, "Fabian, you know the problem with life is, it doesn't come with a soundtrack. I said, no Ted, the problem with life is it absolutely has a soundtrack but I'm the only one that can hear it. He laughed at that. Ted was a Polish Yankee from Ohio. How could I not love him? Oh, but his wife made the most heavenly Golabki. It's a cabbage and sausage roll in buttered pastry. Oh...my mouth waters. That sounds like a very special granddaughter you have there! Blessings of love, peace and light from North Carolina. F.

This is lovely, a reminder of the softer side of our sex that we don’t often show anymore. We have come to expect and accept that we can be just as tough as men but it doesn’t mean we can’t show our softer side as well, after all that softer side is what we seek in each other when looking for love (as well as strength)

Such classic romance filled with beautiful word choices. I love this look into a classic past, pun intended. And when he hits, he hits.

A trip into the past here Cherrie. Reminded me of some of the TV series I've watched based on the old classics. Women were quite often shown as demure, fragile, blushing sweethearts. How times have changed :) I do like a bit of nostalgia.

I like the way you illustrate the relief of tears. They really do bring relief. Especially when your a man and it doesn't happen often. Like the relief of the past and present floods in a gush. I like the juxtaposition of demure and modest. This Cherub likes the rub of your poem!
I'm not ignoring your story. Going to write a brief outline of it and turn it into a poem. Billigami got out of his cage!
