Emily's poem "Hope"

Emily's poem "Hope"

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

From my morning reading. this post is a beautiful poem by Emily Dickinson. Also I have attached a picture of her from the public domain

"
“Hope”
is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -

And sweetest -in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -
That could abash the little Bird -
That kept so many warm -

I’ve heard it in the chilliest land -
And on the strangest Sea -
Yet - never - in Extremity,
It asked a crumb - of me.
- Emily Dickinson

“'Hope' Is the Thing With Feathers”
written about 1861. Published posthumously. In a 2nd collection of Poems by Emily Dickinson, in 1891.

I bought the collection of Emily. Her poetry is amazing. She wrote of God, she wrote of war, she wrote of death, and we wrote of nature. Her view on love. Very interesting. Thank you, dear Cherrie for sharing the amazing poetry.

What a great collection to have. I thought this would be a great poem of hers to share.
I get the feeling if I read some Emily I would have a better understanding. I like your structure and thoughts. Just a touch dark and heavy but light enough to be carried on a wing. The line 'and sore must be the storm' made me think of current events. Russia's storm is getting sore in resistance.
