Nails on woodA Poem by Cherrie Palmer
The depths of night broken with the t, t, t, t, of nails on wood,
and a cold nose met the bottom of my dangling foot. Quickly followed by the slight rattling of a lid, and the gurgling sputter of the percolator. On the heels of sound raced the delightful aroma of coffee. Knowing good and well this means morning Dolly my Australian Shepperd whined. A faint rumble grew in the distance as the spatter of rain tapped on the window. Warm covers were applied from my chin covering the top of my head, and I reveled in the warmth. The crackling of lightning cracked and boomed. That and the dog demanded me arise. © 2022 Cherrie PalmerReviews
