Ice Angel

Ice Angel

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

2nd snowman poem

"
Burning fingers red and numb sculpt an image in the frosty sun.

Little eyes that cannot see, seem to watch from buttons of green.

A lost soul all alone forms an angel for her home.

Standing watch from his lofty throne.

Oh gosh how I loved this sad and not sad poem.. I suppose it is whatever mood one is in when it is read..
I love the button eyes..
I grew in where there was no snow..I did go to the snow a couple of times before I was 20 years old... Boy was I surprised to find the snow hard.. For some reason I always thought is was soft like the clouds..
More on your poem.....
I like all the possible meanings here.. The snowman , a metaphor..perhaps..
I reread your poem several times.. because I liked it so much,

Thank you so much. I guess you'll need to make yours from sand.

A lost soul all alone...
I can imagine tears Frozen on a youthful cheek. Tears that fall from eyes which perhaps are seeing her last day of innocence fade away. So sad.
Her angel cannot last. And she is growing up before her time. What comes to mind is something I once saw. A crude snowman in front of a rundown old house and a thin, hungry, sad child who lived there. She ran away at age thirteen.
There. You've broken my heart. Well written. But as I said, so sad.

We had a family of children like that where I grew up 2 sets of twins, ten years apart .
I think snowmen are much more thoughtful than we give them credit for being.
I love the slant rhyme, and in-line rhyme you used in this.
