Frozen Lace

Frozen Lace

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

By velvet night crystals fall,
slightly felt or not at all.

Biting cold burns cheeks so red,
and a wintery mix pours overhead.

The frozen wind will not stir,
as mounds of snow cannot be heard.

The Heavens shake a blanket of rime, frozen lace caught in time.

I'm all hung up on the word rime? Help me. Hope your storms are enjoyed outdoors briefly. Just long enough to find poetry in the flakes.

Wow, what a detailed, cold, and atmospheric poem. It’s so detailed while still leaving enough to the imagination, and it genuinely feels like a freezing winter night. This poem is enough to put anyone in awe, and I’d dare say a new favorite of mine. It just describes the wintry mountains and months so well, it’s truly amazing. Thank you so much for sharing!

Lovely thoughts and images beautifully expressed Cherrie. No snow this year so far in Bristol UK, but very cold.

won't be pretty...and life will stop as it always does during these dangerous weather events.

Sometimes relationships go through these storms, and not everyone survives.

Thank Pat and stay warm and safe :)
An old fairy tale from the brothers Grimm says that Mother Holda, a witch of some power, engaged a girl as her servant for a while. When the girl shook out the quilts, feathers flew, causing snow in our world.
Beautiful images, Cherrie. Short and to the point. Nicely done.
