The Challenge

The Challenge

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

By lamp of night,
the screech cry out.
The challenge of the charger,
was met by the owl.
Who's swift wings,
skirted the end,
that comes for us all.
By morning light
in the rafters he loomed,
and I knew come dusk,
the challenge would resume.

Well I remember a night near my home when an owl screamed overhead. It chilled me to hear how he fueded with a second owl somewhere off in the hills. You brought that back so vividly. I'll be hearing that in my dreams when I sleep.

Interesting one dear Cherrie, made me stop and think one time and two... the night hunts us with our thoughts, it's where our thoughts, feelings, fears... etc are fueled by the dark silence, and can we learn from that wise owl? that can hunt in the dark and reach its goal? can we challenge ourselves to win over the darkness with our faith and power?

Beautiful insight. I love that.
Wonderful write, as the animals in nature are beautifully works of art created by God. ;-]

The wonder of nature. You described the view of the owl and the prey. Nature should teach us. We can be the hunter or the prey. Maybe both dear Cherrie. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.
