Dessert Bloom

Dessert Bloom

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

Blistering silence cleaves the air,

And the pounding of my heart is all I can hear.

Suspended in motion by the blush of a bud.

The hummingbird sups on a little more than dust.

The dessert rose such a bold nectar,

With a hefty price he doges danger.

The blazing sun has white washed the sky,

As radiating heat dances our souls on high.

Oh Susan thank you. The hummingbirds dance all over our porches and love to add them in. :)
You've word-painted a sweltering scene offering delights for all the senses. Love how your symbolism can apply to life as well as the desert . . . "pounding heart" . . . "blushing bud" . . . so much more depth here than meets the eyes! (((HUGS)))

dearest Cherrie... the blush of a Bud... is a rapture
that intensifies the moment. If only people could be
as gentle as flowers... it would be like a dream with
fish swimming upstream. The mountain springs quench our thirst and the song of birds
fills our Soul with trust and love. Amen, Pat
