Here In The Dark

Here In The Dark

A Poem by Cherrie

Here in the dark,

 I feel you.

My memory,

stronger than time.

And my habit of rising early,

suspended.

For I’m afraid,

to turn on the light.

dear Cherrie... reading your poem again... the photo has
so much concern for what is happening in our World. I keep
more lights burning... however, I understand the impending dangers...
where we are afraid to turn the lights on.... remembering the Raids by Air
in many War torn Countries.... we have been spared to some degree.
Although death lingers at our doorstep with the threat of Pandemics.
Prayers for people Young and old and in-between ... everywhere. tenderly, Pat

i very much like this. the darkness is a realm of its own. it can elicit hidden memories and feelings that are averse to being in the light of day - they feel safer tucked away and resting. the light reveals all for good or bad ... :)

Strange how the darkness protects us yet scares us too.
Its even weirder how you see and feel more in the dark than in the light.
Good memories, I hope.

Good memories, indeed. :)
The darkness, like a sweet dream. We need to make the memory last longer. I liked the honest thoughts in the poetry dear Cherrie. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

I'm glad the words are just for the photo because it sounds like a left alone lonely heart
However, truth is, I really dislike the dark

so a Batman night-light it is.
Beautifully captured moment between sleep and waking life, when you wake with the memory of them lingering and not quite the time to move toward the light switch. A moment that can stretch beyond sense and echo through your day.
It's why I still use a night light 😊 (not joking, I do)

I can never remember what that's called either 😊
I tend to embrace
the darkness and
the serenity it offers
it seems to shield
the troubles and woes
we mere souls have
from being exposed
all too vividly ..

nice work

I agree the night overs solace
dearest Cherrie.. Dreams are more real than Life on some Moon lit encounters ... it beckons embers of moments spent when Earth was spinning like a Top where tears of Joy lingered with every falling ⭐️ Star. tenderly, Pat

What an adorable thing to say... I must get back to reading your words. tenderly, Pat
I find comfort in sleep as well...when the day dawns, the chaos follows...
nighttime is a safety net...my monsters come out of the closet in daylight.

This poem says a lot in its brevity...
You always leave a lot between the lines...
that is what makes your poetry so good.
