a Glimpse

a Glimpse

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

I yield to the sign at the crossway.

Stopping firmly to collect my thoughts.

Do I repeat the road from yesterday?

The one where the morrow is sought.

 Breaking the repeated pattern,

a glimpse of the latter is caught.

Either way I’ll take the day

for what it's worth

for life is a gift of discovery

and cannot be bought.

I agree dear Cherrie.
"for what it's worth
for life is a gift of discovery
and cannot be bought."
I liked the above lines. Good to take the unknown path sometimes. Maybe a miracle to see. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

I agree. If we forget, more to life then money. We will miss so much dear Cherrie.

Thank you so very much
It is a sign for me of true poetry when I can see it. And this I can in all its dusty highway words. And the pause in the journey it is taking me on.

oh i like the excitement and danger in this one Cherrie .. love the play on today and "morrow" with time .. clever and tweeks me nog! What is it that makes you want to re-write it? Is it the cadence? add some more imagery to the scene?? I like the rhyme! The theme is great! Very relatable says i .. we find ourselves in the position of your protagonist all the time, don't we?! I like the danger and I like the "time play"

There may be an internal voice that whispers inside. Persuading us to go in another direction than the usual. Is there a chance to still take it even if we've taken the same road ignoring the voice? I think so.

Yes I try to yield to that internal voice
for everything else, there is Master Card.
But discovery is a beautiful thing about life and if we keep our eyes open and our hearts allow it, we will find many things, love included.

Yes I agree with that we forget to take in the moment and miss the best things life has to offer.
dear Cherrie... a poet once said...
"choose the path less travelled".
I would sprinkle seeds of flowers where
Bees could pollinate and children could sing
and dance and bring laughter where tears once wept.
We will always need a happy heart... to be doctors and
teachers and such. truly, Pat

Decisions, decisions. It takes courage Cherrie to deviate from the usual path. I say nothing ventured, nothing gained. I wonder which path you will choose? Nicely composed poetry with real meaning in its lines.
