Surrender

Surrender

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

the wearing of the green

"

The silent sleep of Winter

threw back her downy coat,

and stretching there

with limbs once bare

she wears a gown of silk.

Silence is now suspended,

for the whippoorwill sings of want,

and the Springtime hat that the weaver hatched

is complete with a brood of chicks.

And the whirling wind

Sets her heart to spin

Mending Winter’s corset.

So, fronds of chenille so tender,

reverberate upon the breeze,

and against the Sun

waxen pedals surrender.

Now I want to see those Bradford petals for myself. Picturing them to be cherryblossomesqueish (I'm sure it's a word)
Please advise so that I can correctly adjust my visual imagination of the beautiful rhythm of seasons and the passing of time viewed in fragments. 😊

The last few days, my yard & garden suddenly bursting forth, I've stood looking at all the splendor, along with oak trees budding vigorously, & wishing I could paint all this in words. You've done it here. Thank you for that! First verse is flying high with "opening" metaphors aplenty! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I love giving nature a human persona, :) it just adds to the picture (in my eyes).
I love seeing your images and feeling the idea of spring mending the wounds from winter.
I hope this happens, in more than just nature.
I love your poetry, Cherrie....all your writing is so expressive.
It is educational for me and my work...teaches me to let go, let it out...
Show.

An ode to spring here. The imagery paints a splendid picture. Let it be!

Yes, I think my pen is from the 2021Spring addition.
There is nothing better than spring for me. Winter is depressing snowy and cold where I live and I’m always ready for it to depart
