Surrender

Surrender

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

the wearing of the green

"

The silent sleep of Winter

threw back her downy coat,

and stretching there

with limbs once bare

she wears a gown of silk.

Silence is now suspended,

for the whippoorwill sings of want,

and the Springtime hat that the weaver hatched

is complete with a brood of chicks.

And the whirling wind

Sets her heart to spin

Mending Winter’s corset.

So, fronds of chenille so tender,

reverberate upon the breeze,

and against the Sun

waxen pedals surrender.

Now I want to see those Bradford petals for myself. Picturing them to be cherryblossomesqueish (I'm sure it's a word)
Please advise so that I can correctly adjust my visual imagination of the beautiful rhythm of seasons and the passing of time viewed in fragments. 😊

I loved how you used the language dear Cherrie.

The above lines. So alive, so wonderful and thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Poems about Spring always cheer me up as well. I am, so happy, you enjoyed it.
Cherrie, this is beautiful!

Your words - for me, are like a visual intercession from Nature itself as Winter acknowledges Spring's re-birth. The vestal white of snowdrops give way to glorious gold daffodils and primroses:. Your poem is a visual and similar fanfare, whether words traditional or metaphorical.

Recently have been gardening here and there, so,
both seeing and feeling ripples of energy all about the countryside. The air smells of living soil, many of the trees are budding green, life is bursting with amazing speed. Your words, whether garbed in metaphor or not, declare the All About is alive and more than well. Love every word of your poem, truly do!
