Fall's Arrival

Fall's Arrival

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

A

 push of

wind darted across

my lane.

I fully expected

to see

showers of rain,

And

showers did come

moving

with the breeze.

A

monsoon of leaves

 spread-out

before me.

Freed from summer’s heat,

 I

reveled in

change.

Fall,

 has announced

its arrival,

and

I for one

am relieved.

This is exactly how I feel in October, now that our mornings have suddenly dipped into the high 40's & with a dampness we haven't had in forever (very dry heat here). The dampness in the air piques all the aromas, such as various pungent chaparral plants. Love the way your poem spills forth like a burbling spring of observations (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Coincidence or not that your words drift downwards.. each action, each sight drifitng perhaps.. .. is how i see it Cherrie. Autumn is my favourite season, no mater Winter due.. the seasons, like four friends, each have their own beauty! ' A monsoon of leaves .. spread-out .. before me. .. Freed from summer’s heat,'

Forgive me but, even your wording is 'coo'! l

Though much too short a season, Autumn is spectacular--my favorite time of year.

Yes, me too I love an Indian Summer. I hope it hangs on way past Thanksgiving. :)
This was a fun read. "A push of wind" I could feel the push. Nicely done. Tyfs

I love autumn leaves; their color, their sounds, and when they cascade across the yard.
How beautifully visual this poem is. The images it evokes are pleasant and full of energy. Rains are always a welcome change and monsoon is my fav season - everything comes to life, with greenery all around. I wish it would rain more here, where I live - but i'm happy to read this poem and experience the joy and mirth through this write. Thank you Cherrie for sharing this!

Thank you Abhilash I hope a refreshing breeze and rain is heading your way. :)
So visual Cherrie. I saw that monsoon of leaves and also heard their movement. I would imagine temperatures reducing would be most welcome. Fall is a beautiful time of year

You are welcome Cherrie. Take care.
Little brush strokes of orange and red appear on green leaves...
the sky is abreast with Canadian Geese flying south to warm their feathers.
Pots of Chrysanthemums in purple and yellow seem to make me mellow.
I slip into melancholy dreams. truly, Pat
