Moon Travelers

Moon Travelers

A Story by Cherrie Palmer

Moon Travelers

Ray you little beam of light,

the day is spent,

so slide upon your pillow and cover up tight.

Close those sleepy eyes

and let’s make plans for our dreams tonight.

Our trip will take time.

So, hurry off to sleep for the journey is far,

but the reward is great.

Tonight, let’s pack a treat for you and for me

and bring your favorite cup

and from the ‘Milky-Way’ we will drink.

Don’t forget to pack a kite

and later on we’ll race fireflies.

Now, this is important so don’t forget

to catch a pink elephant for our ride back,

and as sleepy eyes find light of day

your happy smile will lead the way.

Thank you so much:)
You might be the best writer to create personifications of almost ANYTHING which come across as lively, interactive, interesting, & entertaining. This one is off-the-charts as yours usually are, in prose or verse. There's just one thing that occurred to me, if you're interested . . . you coulda said "big dipper" instead of "favorite cup" . . . & I love the idea of sipping on the milky way! Elephants in the sky, and pink, could that involve a drink, of course, that is not what I think.
More pleasant moon gazing, a very enjoyable pastime

You are most and always welcome Cherrie..

Sounds like a wonderful trip. My baby girl is always drawing pictures of the sun, moon and planets. Her favorite planet, besides earth, is Neptune because of the rings. We often go out to look at the moon and stars. If that pink elephant fails you can always grab the tail of a passing comet or rocket home on a shooting star. I enjoyed the read.
