Maybe Lassie will come to the rescue. In screen writing they have a slang expression now called, "Jumping the shark" based of The Fonz from Happy Days. They ran out of ideas for the story-line so they went to the bizarre. The entirety fell down the well.

Is this writer's block? or are you having a Lassie episode flashback? speaking of Lassie did you ever wonder why lassie didn't just maul Timmy for all of the constant troubles?
